Nothing harmful in Moderna vaccine, Health Ministry guarantees

Referring to reports being circulated on social media with regard to the Moderna jab, the Health Ministry today urged people not to be afraid of getting the Moderna as it contains no enzymes that are harmful to human body.

Addressing a news briefing, Health Promotion Bureau Director Dr Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said social media reports had articulated that Moderna vaccine contained Luciferases.

“We inquired into these claims and found out that the Moderna vaccine contains no enzymes called Luciferases,” he pointed out.

Dr Batuwanthudawa asked people not to be deceived by misinformation being circulated in social media with regard to vaccines but to rely on information conveyed by the Health authorities.

“There may be moves to discourage people to get COVID-19 vaccines. However, we as health officials insist people to try and get the vaccine in order to protect from severe complications and death,” he stressed. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
