What a dog and pony show. Looks like two ministers went to the port on a 'show me the ship tour' ? In a country full of illicit masters with yes sir ... yes sir three bags full .. slaves, who are obsequiously accepts any wrong command, its a such a magical show to see a cruise ship docked at the CMB port. Adding more flavor to the small story, DM said that the ship was manufactured in 2022. No one disembarked no one cashed dollars, I didn't think they even refuel here, they cannot afford to refill with substandard fuel and take a risk of a breakdown.

What a shame. A minister descending to such low level to greet the passengers. Will he go to the harbour and the airport to meet the tourists every time they come. Jokers galore in our parliament!!!

Can someone from the port customs unit check the stomach area of this minister (bottom photo) who is on a white saron. Looks like he is got something hidden there trying to deliver on to the cruise-ship that will smuggle out of the country.

Much ado about virtually nothing, other than giving some cheap publicity to these two guys.

NImal Siripala was omboard to ask commision to unload the garbage, the only income to the country on 24 hour visit by luxuryliner.
Jamis Sunday, 20 November 2022 12:20 AM
Nimal Siripala looks like he is pregnant with a goat! The guy looks so unhealthy and frankly, pathetic. I know this is not politically correct. But we should not send people who look like that to greet tourists!

Go back to the 60's to 80's tourism that was when real tourist and currency flowed in abundance or learn from Thailand,Vietnam and Maldives how to lure tourist to visit LK in this tough economic environment Present administrators do not have a clue in this field. They assume foreigners are loaded only a percentage are affluent to splash at expensive hotels. Generally tourist are from all walks of life so affordability is paramount and not all are interested in a 2500 year culture. On several visits I have heard tourist say "Lanka is not a cheap destination" I think expats are the people who really bring in the foreign exchange as they not only spend they support their family and friends consistently some attention to support them will be well regarded. Lankan consulates around the world can make a big influence with the Lankan community involvement to improve migration, sport, employment, Travel etc especially in this current crisis for that suitable Consuls need to be assigned
