Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Vadivel Suresh yesterday said nothing prevents him working with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and that he will do what his people want him to do.

“I have no issues working with the president, and I will do what my people want me to do." I met both the President and the Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa and told them that what my people want and I will do what they want me to do,” he told journalists after he met Mr. Premadasa at the Opposition Leader’s office.

“I told the President about the plight of the people in the estate sector which I have highlighted in the May Day rally. “I told him about the wages and informed him that a total of 9000 hectares have been abandoned in my area and that this has increased the leopard population in the area. I told him these animals have become a major threat to the people and to their lives. I also told him that plantation sector people are deprived of Samurdhi,” he said. The President promised to call up all stakeholders in the plantations, including the companies, trade unions and state officials in the sector for a meeting and resolve these issues. “I would rate the meeting as a successful one,” he said.

“I also met the Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa and he promised to visit my electorate in Badulla soon,” he said.  (Yohan Perera)

First let me know what your people actually want... wild animal control and that's why send you to parliment. Promise to have a meeting with everyone without committment to a date is a success? On the other hand how mere visit of opposition leader will sort your people issue? I am confused.

He is going behind president now to get some support and help for his people.Nothing wrong in this at all..after all Politics all about looking after his people otherwise he will be send home by his people ...yet I feel sorry for upcountry people ..No government looked after them well ..look at their houses and look at their wage ..it is so sad. India and it's ambassadors in Colombo try their best to look after them but not enough..Only few houses have been built-in by them for Upcountry Tamils ..We need to help them out ..it is our moral responsibility

This clearly shows what is wrong with SL politics. These people do not have a single stand, political persuasion or a single objective. All they want is some political favour and Ministerial posts. They are well prepared to change sides and change their position in a moment of notice. Look at Harin, Rajitha, SB and many others. They always change sides. No wonder SL will never get out this mess ever and ever become a developed country. It simply does not have right rulers or the right public servants. Add to that is that SL people keep electing these clowns time after time. They never learn either.

Yes, Yes, no issue working with the President.Pray and wait until he calls you for the swearing in ceremony.

If he gets Samurdhi for poor in his electorate he true winner Thursday, 04 May 2023 08:53 PM

Most of the voters in his electorate have below average income. Estate people are not naive after having even being disenfranchised by DS Senanayake from having voting rights about Buddhist (and even Jaffna) politicians. However, I'd rate Ranil deceived him about getting the poor their deserved Samurdhi. And the houses in infested with wild animals will be given to Sinhala from other provinces too by the Ranil to win votes of the majority voters.

OPPORTUNIST Vadivelu Thursday, 04 May 2023 10:01 PM

Yes, no issues at all joining with Ranil if, your POCKET is FILLED with CORRUPT MONEY, holding a Ministry.
