There is no intention to increase the fuel prices in the near future, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila assured.
He expressed these views after a meeting which held between Government affiliated parties and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last night.
“We are among the very few countries that has not increased fuel prices when the prices are soaring in the global market,” he pointed out.
“Despite global fuel prices are on the rise, we are trying our best not to increase the prices of fuel since we have clearly understood the burden that the people shoulder these days,” the Minister said.
He proceeded to state that there is no fuel shortage in Sri Lanka as well.
However, the Lanka IOC was compelled to increase its retail selling prices of both Diesel (Lanka Auto Diesel) and Petrol (LP 92 ) by Rs. 5 per litre from midnight October 21 due to massive losses it suffered due to the drop in sale of both types of fuel. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Of course then your CPC will suck tax payers money
Priyantha77 Monday, 25 October 2021 03:38 PM
This is good for fools. If CPC give fuel at loss means , even people who do not use fuel has to pay the CPC losses as taxes,
Frustrated Tax payers Monday, 25 October 2021 03:39 PM
Please liberalizes petroleum industry as we cannot pay CPC losses anymore

When there is no increase you jump to say that....but when there is an increase you palm it on to President and his committees. All the same.
Sunil Monday, 25 October 2021 03:59 PM
Just a few days ago he stated that either the fuel prices will have to be increased or a subsidy should be received from the treasury. Now he is telling something quite different. The eventual outcome will be that fuel prices will increase, most probably within this week.
