The entry of the newly detected COVID-19 variant, Omicron could be inevitable, Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) said today.
SLMA President Dr. Padma Gunaratne said the authorities should take all precautionary measures as they had already taken, to ensure the new variant does not enter the country.
“We are of the viewpoint that though the entry of the new variant could be delayed, there is no guarantee that it would never enter the country,” she highlighted.
However, Dr. Gunaratne stressed the significance of strictly adhering to health rules and to get vaccinated on right time.
Meanwhile, Public Health Inspectors' Union Head Upul Rohana said there are many loopholes through which the new variant could enter the country.
“The system at the airport is so fragile, tourists could evade health officials upon arrival. Thus, the authorities should pay a special attention to this and ensure that every means of evasion is prevented,” he stressed. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

If you doctors had any proper deep scientific knowledge, we would not be seeing this repeated attacks by this virus for the last two years. So, please shut your mouth “Doctor”.

Dear Concerned Sri Lanka, Alas, you are displaying your deep ignorance. Covid is a NEW disease and even the doctors and scientists are learning about it as time goes on. Clearly you lack even a basic knowledge of science. These things mutate darling, that is normal. And with a large number of unvaccinated people out there the virus still has the opportunity to keep on circulating and changing. And when it changes, the existing vaccines are less effective against it. Typical ignorant human being, asking the doctors to shut their mouths. When you get sick, please don’t be a hypocrite and visit the doctor or a hospital since you are condemning them now. Don’t waste the time of the doctors you are condemning.

More threatning news for general public and more sufferings to people. No way to generate money for existence. Doctors are flourishing and Masses are sufferings.

Unlike Sri Lanka's medical professionals with the whole English alphabet following their names, Pfizer has stated that it is ready to come with a new vaccine for this new mutation in 100 days. These are professionals and not trained parrots. Do not confuse this with Gamarala's 100 days.

FOLLOWING HEALTH GUIDELINES BY THE PUBLIC IS PARAMOUNT TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF VIRUS. IT IS A VERY SIMPLE PRACTICE, AND WE DONT UNDERSTAND WHY OUR PEOPLE CANNOT FOLLOW IT FAITHFULLY TO SAVE THE COUNTRY
