No government funds were used for the study tour of the Women Parliamentarians' Caucus to New Zealand, Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera said.
She said this study tour was organized with the support of development partners without using government funds for about two and a half years.
Ms. Rohanadeera said that the Women Parliamentarians' Caucus plays a major role in addressing the socio-economic and political issues of women in the country, and it will be helpful to gain experience from the developed countries of the Commonwealth in order to perform those tasks more efficiently.
The Secretary General pointed out that although the members of the Women Parliamentarians' Caucus represent different political parties, they stand up for the common goals of the caucus and work together under the leadership of its Chairperson Parliamentarian Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle. You can go to developed countries but you never make your country develop, your agenda is to make your families develop. This trip is just a mere eye wash.

Hello Kushani, I am sure you know that the development partners (international financing institutions or UN organizations) contributions come to the Government to serve the country

How can you develop a nation sending this idiotic lot of women. They should have been sent to Saudi as housemaids which would have benefitted the country.

what did you learn from this visit? Pavithra should have learnt from Jacinda Arden the way to control a pandemic is not by throwing clay pots of water in to rivers

Our country would not be bankrupt if these politians brought any positive ideas and implemented them from these developed countries. So another waste of money whether it is government funds or not.
Develop brain first Friday, 04 August 2023 06:41 PM
Well said. For the past 70 years many politicians and similar organisations has visited developed countries multiple times. Despite that no development is reflected in the country's state. To achieve it, first the peoples' brains should develop.
Cherath Friday, 04 August 2023 03:09 PM
MPs with some intelligence, education and well brought up will learn from these visits and implement them here beneficial to the people. Others with only wide mouths from ear to ear and zero brains will merely enjoy these trips at anyone's expense with no input.

Not their funds too. Funds received for other purpose by a foreign aid agency have been spent by these MPs who are touring New Zealand to assess the country for them to immigrate after the election.
