Maldives President Solih, first Lady Fazna in Sri Lanka on unofficial visit

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed are in Sri Lanka on a four-day unofficial visit.

The First Couple will be returning to Maldives following the conclusion of their visit, on 2 January 2022.

The First Couple visited Sri Lanka during July 2021 on an unofficial visit as well.

During the trip, the Maldivian president paid a courtesy call on Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariant in Colombo. Official talks were held regarding the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic as well as strengthening ties between the two countries.

Further, the Speaker of Parliament and Former President Mohamed Nasheed is also currently on an unofficial visit to the United Kingdom. He departed on December 25.
