The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) yesterday said seeking foreign assistance should only be limited to obtain intelligence to fight terrorism and not for any internal affairs of the country.
Addressing a news briefing held at the SLPP head office, MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was hell bent on obtaining international assistance to control the prevailing terror situation in the country.
“However, the Prime Minister has never said that he would ensure the safety of all Sri Lankans. We only urge the government to understand the gravity of the situation and act in a responsible manner. We are not trying to achieve any political gains. The government should provide compensation to the affected people and eradicate terrorism threats from Sri Lanka," he said. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
