Lanka Sugar Company Chairman Janaka Nimalachandra has been removed from the position due to allegations of corruption and other charges, a Plantation Ministry official said.
Major General (Rtd) Sarada Samarakoon has been appointed as the new Chairman.
The official said the former Chairman Nimalachandra had been involved in alleged corruption charges such as going on overseas tours without approval.
Nimalachandra is also facing investigations by the Presidential Secretariat over certain allegations.
Nimalachandra had served three years as Chairman of the Lanka Sugar Company. However, on December 5, sugar mill workers had launched a protest against the decision to appoint an acting Chairman to replace Nimalachandra. The maintenance work of the factory has come to a standstill due to the strike.

Isn't it time we called for elections and send of RW? We can't have such undemocratic actions done by the executive, isn't it? We can then vote for a clueless 'Armegedon'.

Why appoint military personnel?
Concerned Citizen Thursday, 22 December 2022 07:08 PM
Another Viyathmaga slave who’s qualifications and experience is questionable. The ONLY reason he was appointed was because he was bum sucking the Rajapaksas !

The Chairman who did well is removed and replaced with a Military stooge. The person who removed the tax on sugar making the way to the importer to make a profit in the size of 30-40% of our budget is still at large. Justice is sleeping
Ah ah ah Thursday, 22 December 2022 08:23 PM
If you don’t appoint military personnel, there could be a coup de tat.

An unexperienced low life bottom feeder got his chance during Gota's failed presidency out of friendship with the Rajapaksa's. Disgraceful!. First exposure into government and he gets caught with the hand in the cookie jar. Embarrassment!. Next, contest for an election?.

He was working at the Dominos pizza. A rajapaksa slave

It is very strange remove him if there are corruption allegation! How about many politicians? Siripala? Aprasanna? Drug man? Bank robber? Bandula - the Sugar thief? They are still surviving. I think, Janaka should be promoted to the minister of that area to go forward of sugar!!

Ok. We believe it after a proper legal action. Until then its an another drama.

With a military appointment, far easier to stage a coup and take control. I doubt there is any light at the end of this tunnel. Why hasn't the government and legal system gone after those responsible in bringing the country to its belly ??, can anyone enlighten me please, not been following all of the country's politics??

Just removing is it the solution. Every one comes plays out and just removed. What ever monies stolen should be recovered with an additional interest fee as well.
Gaston Friday, 23 December 2022 10:33 AM
We public like to know the details of corruption, other than 'the foreign travels without permission'. There should be a better reason for removal.

Which prison hotel in s he residing now?
Rip Winkle Friday, 23 December 2022 11:41 AM
The vast majority of the 225 in parliament and hundreds of others holding high posts in the government sector do worse things and have multiple allegations against each of them. How come Ranil doesn't take action against them?

A full completely transparent investigation needs to be carried out. If found guilty he needs to be indicted and charged in HC AND jailed with RI as soon as possible. Everyone seems to be getting away by merely losing the job. That is never a sufficient deterrent. MM

This guy is what u consider as an A grade parasite. He was like a kuudalla on Rohitha and Namal Rajapaksha. Every where they go he used to follow them a proper slave. When his appointment came in everyone who knows the guy knew there comes his retirement opportunity. He really didn’t build anything in Sevanagala like they are saying wit the Covid we couldn’t import liquor so the only way to buy ethanol was from Sevanagala, but he tried to promote it like he did some magic. I wont be surprised if this crook gets in politics too slimy bugger
