Lady Ridgeway runs out of capacity to treat COVID-19 infected children

The COVID-19 ward at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) in Colombo designated to treat COVID-19 infected children has reached its maximum capacity, Hospital Director Dr G. Wijesuriya said.

He said the rate of children getting infected with the virus is on the rise.

“Around 70 children infected with COVID are currently receiving in-house treatment at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital while around 15 cases are reported daily from the hospital,” he said.

“However, the maximum capacity in the ward where COVID-19 infected children are treated, has almost exceeded and therefore, some children are transferred to other hospitals,” the Director pointed out.

Therefore, he said they had taken steps to obtain a separate building in Rajagiriya through the Ministry of Health to accommodate the treatment facilities for children.

Dr Wijesuriya proceeded to say that as the cases related to children could increase further in future, the parents are requested to be cautious of their children. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

We have gone above the capacity at hospitals,infected people are rising and deaths are also rising but foolish discision makers at the government has open the country further more. Are they looking to kill more people? Media should question the decision makers and they should be held responsible for purposely killing people?
