LITRO Gas Lanka Ltd has decided to reduce the selling prices of the domestic gas cylinder by August 5, LITRO Lanka Chairman Muditha Peiris said.
He said the decision was taken considering the price reduction in the world market and that the company could be assured of granting the gas price reduction by August 5.
However, the gas price will be reduced more than the amount of the recent price increase, he said.
The selling price of a 12.5kg domestic gas cylinder was increased by Rs.50 recently, and the current price is Rs.4,910.
Therefore, the chairman requested the sales agents to release their gas stocks to the market as the price was going to drop.
"As we announced twenty days ago, a total of 2.2 million domestic gas cylinders have been released to the market, reducing the shortage and queues by nearly 100 percent." With the help of the World Bank, we had to increase gas shipments very quickly to restore the gas shortage. We will continue with this process to completely overcome the situation," the chairman said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
