The prices of 12.5kg domestic LITRO gas cylinders has been incresed by Rs. 80 with effect from today, LITRO Lanka Chairman Muditha Peiris said.
Accordingly, the new retail price of the 12.5kg gas cylinder will be Rs. 4,360.
The 5 kg gas cylinder will be incresed by Rs.30 and the 2.3 kg cylinder will be incresed by Rs.15 from tonight.
Accordingly, the new retail price of the 5 kg gas cylinder will be Rs. 1,750 and the price of 2.3 kg will be Rs. 815.

No issue here with a slight increse of price. The issue is people suffered few days with out gas. You'll should have done this much earlier Litro.

Excuse given by Litro for the shortage last week was that their agents aren't stocking anticipating a drop in the prices. When viewed from another angle, the agents were holding the empty cylinders disrupting the refilling activity in their bottling plant. Therefore the agents were adding to the misery of the people. It is the responsibility of Litro to ensure that their agents too respect the values of the Company they represent. Wish Litro understands what's Corporate responsibility is.

Do not speculate or release statements regarding the price. It goes vendors to decide whether selling or hoarding the gs ceylinders which happened in last few weeks. We (people) suffered lot.

Now what has the Ranil operated clown got to say. He said the shortage due to agents not ordering gas. Now we know the reason.

Mr Chairman smooth talk does not make an honorable man but a person who does not mince his words. All you ball talk was that the Agents were not replenishing their stocks as there was an imminent price change. Do you expect us to believe that if there was bird whisper that the price would increase who is the foolish agent who would have not taken the risk of borrowing hard cash and replenished the usual stock plus additional quantities to ensure there is a boost in his profits. Your integrity comes into question with the customers not able to purchase their gas and this is mainly you have let down your clientele because no one will believe with your empty words which should only be taken with a pinch of salt. Litro under Muditha Peris via its corrupt procurement practices awarded the gas supply tender to Oman Trading when Saim Gas the lowest bidder could produce a metric ton for usd 29 less due to kickbacks.

There has to be LITRO owned outlet selling of gas, with at least one outlet in every district. That way, at least LITRO can keep things moving. LITRO try to control too much, and then problem happen instead of letting private seller set their own prices. Competition will always bring about a sustainable outcome once the supply and demand sides naturally come to settle.
