The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) revealed that two consultants appointed on the recommendation of former Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd and the Media Ministry had been paid Rs. 1.8 million and Rs. 900,000 respectively.

The Auditor General informed the Committee that a consultant who was recruited to the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd on December 7, 2020 had been paid Rs. 1.8 million and another consultant who had been released to the Media Ministry had been paid a consultancy fee of Rs. 900,000 without obtaining any consultations to the Company.

It was revealed that the appointments had been made on the recommendation of a former minister and the Committee held that the Board of Directors of Lake House should be held responsible.

The Media Ministry Secretary was advised to look into the matter and submit a report within two weeks. (Ajith Siriwardana)

May be Keyliya Rambukwela would have got his 20% commission from both of them for sure. CID should investigate and take appropriate action against Minister Rambukwela.

Fraudulent transactions or friends and family payments. Not a big deal. Happens all the time. Nothing new. No one can stop such practices.

The payments and other facilities given to the dud consultants to be recovered from the minister and the line ministry sectary. Without their knowledge these appointments can't be done. This is common practice the Gotta government followed to appoint consultant to various state owned enterprises and corporations. This corrupt system was introduced by Rajapakshas . Even the loss making coporations had sevvral Consultants. This is the fate of the country.

How much are the commissions paid to the Minister by the dud consultants? Must be at the same rate as commissions paid by the dud drug companies.

It is now anyone's guess how this bloke KR has amassed his wealth, owning expensive houses and luxury vehicles. Ranil is foolish to offer payment of compensation from tax-payers money to these corrupt MPs whose houses were burned down simultaneous to Gota chased out of the country. Proper investigation shud be carried out by COPE n if found the claim is true, KR shud be asked to resign. Ranil shud stern action against more such corrupt MPs.

Submission of a Report or Committee of enquiry are a on going farce with our Politicians. This is hoodwinking the public and the offender is eventually exonerated. The Minister must resign honorably, like Mr. Boris Johnston. Or, the remedy is for the PM to sack the Minister. K R 's track record justifies this action.
