Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera today urged the Government to introduce a joint treatment methodology with Western and Ayurvedic medical practices to treat Covid patients.
He told Parliament that such combined medical practices were used in other countries such as China and South Korea to treat Covid patients.
Raising a question on Standing Order 27/2, he said Covid patients have been treated successfully at Navinna Ayurveda Hospital and that most of them have recovered without complications.
The Thera said two Western medical practitioners have been assigned at the Navinna Ayurveda Hospital where Covid patients are treated and pointed out that it was important to assign Ayurvedic medical practitioners at the Government Western Medical Hospitals where Covid patients are treated.
The Thera said there were effective Ayurvedic practices which could cure respiratory ailments instantly which could be used in Western Medical Hospitals as well.
He said a Western medical practitioner at the Karapitiya Hospital had claimed that he had developed an Indigenous medicine and asked if the Government was aware of it and the stance of the Government on it.
The Thera also questioned the Government whether the vaccination against Covid pandemic was the only solution and asked about the number of people who had died after receiving both vaccines.
“We have learnt that some people have died after receiving both vaccines. Is vaccination the only solution to this pandemic?,”he asked.
Ven. Rathana Thera said people should not be forced to get the vaccine as there were speculations that Covid could be cured from alternative medical practices such as indigenous medical practices.
He said youth over 20 also should not be vaccinated as they have high immunity and added that only the youth who have chronic diseases and aspiring to migrate should be given vaccines.
State Minister Channa Jayasumana said comprehensive answers would be provided by the Health Minister to the questions shortly.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

Since when is he a medical expert? It is very dangerous when people who don't have a clue speak out about these issues. Also it is dangerous and expensive to purchase only Sinopharm.
