The number of individuals who damage the walls and iron fences of the Lotus Tower has increased, said Lotus Tower Head of Management Prasad Samarasinghe.

He told the Daily Mirror that only 10 individuals who caused damages to the Tower were apprehended and handed over to the police.

Samarasinghe said the Lotus Tower is not a place for graffiti drawing and requested the public to visit the Tower with a good mentality.

Earlier, several incidents were reported of couples confessing their love on the walls of the Lotus Tower walls by drawing hearts and scribbling their names to confess their commitments to one another.

The walls on the top of the tower continue to be defaced by the scribbling of young visitors.

However, the officials have begun educating the visitors before they enter the observation deck at the top, that confessing their love in such manner even at such a height will only destroy the property. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

This shows how educated we Sri Lankans are and unfortunately, the price we pay for free education to have this very literate population vandalizing everything. I hope these vandals we will be caught and dealt with severely. Dolly

Please have CCTV cameras all monitored at a nerve centre that can pass any information to security staff. I have seen in Western countries their supermarkets are monitored like this to nab the shoplifters

This is why imagine if the LRT was put up. That also would have been vandalised. I just stood near the Visakha Vidyalaya. There walls were horrible. Vandalised from all the sides. In Malaysia the LRT is used by the people but not vandalised.

Instal cctv cameras. Catch the culprits and get them to clean roads and gutters in the cities in public for 1 whole week. Or trade with a few months imprisonment.

Yes I saw this madeness, but I have an idea, put up a dedicated board for writing loved ones names by paying some amount. Further put up a notice board mentioned the heavy fine amount for writing names anywhere else. Fix CCTV . The problem will be solved.
