Hejaaz Hizbullah Case: Witness admits he took contradictory stances

The main prosecution witness in the Hejaaz Hizbullah trial, Mohomed Malik today admitted of taking contradictory stances before judges at different times.

He told court today that he lied in his statement made before Magistrate in May 2020.

He said that in relation to repeated questions by the defense on how he left the Al Zuhriya Arabic college .

In his evidence in chief the witness said that he had “jumped and run away from the school “. However in his statement to the Magistrate he had said that he stayed home after returning from the term end holiday.

The defense continuously questioned the witness on his narrative which they pointed out was completely contradictory to his previous statements .

The witness also said CID officers visited his home on separate occasions and showed the picture and identified Hejaaz Hizbullah to the witness.

Further trial against lawyer Hejaaz Hizbullah fixed for January 23 by Putthalam High Court Nadee Aparna Suwandurugoda.

Attorney at law Hejaaz Hizbullah and another were indicted before the High Court of Putthalam for allegedly making a speech in an Arabic college in Putthalam .

Defense counsel Chaminda Athukorale with Hafeel Farisz , Dhanushan Kaneyshyogan and Sanjeewa Kodithuwakku appeared for the accused together with Asith Siriwardena and Farman Cassim PC .

Deputy Solicitor General Sudarshana De Silva with Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama appeared for the Attorney General. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Waste of public money...Sri Lankan judiciary has gone down to this level.. All this Easter Sunday case is done by MR and co so that Gota could come to power and now much million public money has been spent on all those cases and how much is wasted . How much money is wasted by courts; prison service and other department All this add our economic downfall . Wasting money ; time and human resources.. Satan hatched in the heads of MR and co family and he has been breeding all this evils in the name of war on terror as US presidents did .. Dirty politics and Satan are friends now... Satan does not discriminate between race; religion and nationals .. Sri Lankan Politics follows the footsteps of some dirty politics of the western countries and now they pay the price . karma will leave no one . If you do some wrong it will haunt to you and your family for years to come . MR and co think they have managed to get away with Ranil all these bad deeds but Karma will follow them soon

Did witness was guided by interested parties to a point throw the case,lawyers who are trying to serve justice for victims and Catholic Church need to study the current situation
