The Government should go back to the fuel price formula again as proposed by the Central Bank, Justice Minister Ali Sabri said today.
He told Parliament that it was better to adopt a system which allows the fuel prices to fluctuate in line with price fluctuations in the world market.
Speaking during the debate on the second reading of the budget, he said all the people including the poor had to pay the tax on fuel ultimately and added that it was not suitable to use public funds to pay the fuel subsidiary.
“It is not suitable to use public funds to cover the fuel of those who can afford to use a petrol or diesel car. When paying tax ultimately, it is paid from the money of all the people including the poor. That subsidiary is not suitable” he said.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

So Mr. Boru Justice, what happened to the fund when oil was in low 20$ range?

Do you mean poor don't travel in buses, three wheelers, motor bikes ? You have to tax the wealthy a lot as wealth tax and use the tax money to subsidise the poor.

With a rotten government formula or no formula will not work as always price reductions have never been passed as lower prices all this is verbosity

Yes we need a price formula for oil as well as to float the dollar if we want to get dollars to the country.

Why you propose to copy the yahapalana policy.

What? Gota not treating well enough?

One good thing or bad thing about this government is anyone can say anything, people can protest without being subject to tear gas and water cannon use by police. Compare that with Yahapalana and previous UNP governments where such protests were crushed violently by authorities. But , current protestors are simply spreading covid in the country.

Get a life Ranaweera. The fun hasn't started yet. We all know what these buggers are capable of. It won't be water cannon but live bullets as in Rathupaswela
