Drone camera shot down, Chinese tourist arrested

An airborne drone camera over the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises was shot down by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) when the first Kumbal procession was parading last night, and a Chinese tourist was arrested on suspicion.

The 43-year-old Chinese suspect had focused the drone camera on the route of the procession, only to be shot down by the SLAF providing protection to the procession.

Later, the drone camera lying about a kilometre away from the Sri Dalada Maligawa was recovered by the officers.

Investigations revealed that the tourist, who had arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday (20), had been staying at a hotel in Kandy. He was to be produced before court.

Proper instructions should be given to the tourist who are arriving .....about what NOT TO DO ......a pictorial brochure could be distributed in different languages in the Airport

They could and have the ability to deliver bombs to the unsuspecting as much as deliver, Groceries and Staples in certain circumstances, NOT suggesting ever, that is the case in THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE!! Thought that there are still instructions when arriving at BIA"NO PHOTOS OF STRATEGIC and DEFENCE SITES!!" Agree, Chinese may not infer the DALADA as STRATEGIC as much as JVP or LTTE to fulfil their sordid cause!!???

Why was there a threat , or a possible attack on the procession. Probably that could be the reason the SLAF was providing protection. As Nalaka noted proper instruction must be given to tourist. This is bull crap, not good for the tourist industry.

They should be taught to respect the laws of the country. They cant do these things even in their own country. There are countries you are not allowed to film an airport tarmac. I filmed the tarmac from the terminal and I was taken to the chief of security and was severely warned. Very good lesson

Pls give instructions to tourists specially Chinese in order to behave and respect other cultures and human feelings...they shoot fotos with out asking in front if ur face...
