Left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka was called up into the Sri Lanka squad for the remainder of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier matches, after Dushmantha Chameera was ruled out due to injury and sent back home.

Chameera was yet to feature in the tournament, having picked up a right pectoral muscle injury ahead of Sri Lanka’s first match of the tournament, and has now been ruled out of the Super Six stage.

Sri Lanka will play their first Super Six match against the Netherlands tomorrow.

Chameera will now return home and engage in a rehabilitation program at the High Performance Center at the RPICS, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said.

Madushanka was among four players that Sri Lanka sent to Zimbabwe as stand by, having impressed during the recent South Africa ‘A’ series.

Sri Lanka will also face hosts Zimbabwe and two-time World Cup winners West Indies in the Super Six stage, needing to finish in the top two teams to qualify for the Cricket World Cup in India later this year.

It is a very sad story to hear that Chameera has been ruled out Thus we have been deprived of the world class bowler we believe that left arm quick Dilshan may play his role quite well

SL cricket should try to focus on looking for other alternatives for 50 over cricket. Chameera can olay in t20 if fully recovered.

Chameera should target WC of qualified . He needs to realy taken care of without rushing. Also Capt is usless no contribution at all.

Why was Chameera included in the squad of qualifiers in the first place if he was unfit? Madushan was in good nick and should have been included along with Angelo Mathews as the games against Zimbabwe and W Indies will be key towards qualifying. Best of luck to the team.

Such talent was wasted due to franchise-game- hacking

Let's hope that Chameera will be fit for the tests against Pakistan as very crucial as test cricket what matters.
