Police investigation into the assault and abduction of champion boxer M.S. Dinusha Lakshan had revealed that the incident was a result of a conflict between two gangs over drug trafficking.
The 22-year-old man had been abducted, assaulted and burnt by a group of men on December 12 at Hospital Lane in Kandy.
The victim's mother said her son Lakshan was sleeping at his home at Hospital Lane, Kandy when a person took him outside purportedly to discuss a deal about a motorcycle.
Then, some men came in two three-wheelers clouted him with steel rod and took him away by force, she said.
He was later found dumped near a playground in Hantana and was rushed to the Kandy General Hospital.
Investigations revealed that the victim, a skilled martial artist was arrested with 10g of drugs and was released recently on bail after being remanded for some time.
It was brought to light during police investigation that he was kidnapped and beaten by a drug peddling gang in Bogambara area.

What happens to the Drugs that are being seized almost on a daily basis by the Police and Navy? If they are kept in safe custody some where, is there any record of where they are kept, under whose custody, and other relevant information such as dates, quantity, from where seized etc,?

@Hindu Tamil. What's wrong with you guys. You all have a freak mindset of linking your race, language, religion and place with your identity as if its a PHD Degree from the Harvard University and behave as if you are all superior to the rest of the people in the country.
