Is it due to economic crisis? Or some other issues

We saw the calibre of some of the so called monks during the protest. They are nothing but a disgracful bunch of third grade ruffians. They represent the values the political parties they are affiliated. So we are supposed to replace the present set of rouges in the parliament with this lot?

What about the useless parliament wasting lots of public funds. They must approve close down it forever - never to come again!!

Do not reopen these useless money consuming religious universities. Instead use it for something that is useful. Give it to a technical college so that at least we will be able to produce qualified mechanics to cater overseas demand.

My personal impression, shaped by decades of visiting Sri Lanka and talking to important monks on the island, comes to the conclusion that a return to the roots of Buddhism and its renewal has become a necessity! This has happened more often in the last 100 years been the case! I remember Olcott, the enriching works of Nyanatiloka, the founding of the Buddhist Public Society by Maha Thera Bodhi, and the significant works and translations for Buddhism by Nyanaponika!!! To name just a few of the outstanding ones! Monks who lived the spirit of Buddhism and dedicated their lives to the promotion and spread of Buddhism, far from politics! Unfortunately, one can currently only turn away from what is obviously considered normal by some Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka!!!

Oh Buddhism to a pride for Sri Lanka, Buddhist Monks are a disgrace. They opposed the solution provided through Former prime minister S.W.R.D.Bandaranaike in 1956 to resolve the ethnic issue. If that was implemented there would have been no war and we would have been a prosperous country.

This will lead landslide victory of SLPP in the future elections. Undoubtedly, Ranil, an evangelist, has been working against BUDDHISM.

Very surprised at the drastic measure! Wonder whether it applies to other faith institutions as well???

Also revoke the studentships and send all those bearded robed rouge uni. student monks who play havoc to this university. They will be looked after by their similar robed-perks.
