Eight individuals including seven women have been arrested last evening for allegedly operating a brothel in the guise of a spa on Galle Road in Mount Lavinia.
Mt. Lavinia Crime Investigation Unit which carried out the raid said it was done on a tip-off from the public.
Police said the women aged between 19 and 29, were identified as residents of Kalutara, Idalgashinna, Pannipitiya, Wadduwa, Wattala and Halmillawa.
They are to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court today. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

We are a bankrupt country, when people go hungry they sell whatever they have. These women are doing this only out of poverty. Those who operate these services take advantage of their difficulties. The police don’t need a tip-off, they know exactly where these are. Probably this particular SPA refused to pay protection fees.
