Bill Gates to be invited to visit Sri Lanka

What benefits people of Sri Lanka get by inviting them at the public expenses...before you have any conference or meeting think about people and see what they will bring to us ...Are we going to gain any thing or they will take away from us ? No harm in having all these confidences.but look at the condition of this country now ...How many conferences we may have held in the past in Sri Lanka and yet it looks we are in lossing side after all those conference...I know this country need help now from all outsiders and yet we should put Sri Lanka first in all these conferences...that needs some sharp diplomacy and mutual understanding between us and all other countries

Indians will try to sabotage Bill Gates visiting Sri Lanka. I am personally requesting the Daily Mirror to stop giving space to the “ sick “ individual who is non stop making derogatory comments about Buddhism, our armed forces , and also making very filthy comments against those making comments about Indian evil intentions and crimes committed by the Indian army against the Tamils in Jaffna. Some one has to deal with this “ sick “ individual once and for all , he is working hard to destroy the relationship between the Tamils and Sinhalese. And he is following an “Indian Plan” against Sri Lanka.

This conference is meant to promote tourism by highlighting the host country. A "Global Renewable Energy Conference" should be held in a country that can feed its citizens and provide energy for their own needs first. Children of Sri Lanka are starving. Elderly and pregnant women lack nourishment and medicines are constantly in shortages. Young men and women need skills in technology that provide well paying employment opportunities as they do in Indian IT and engineering sectors. These are areas align with the interests of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. So much to fix in a small nation yet tourism is their #1 priority.

Otherwise why does he needs to be invited at a time when the nation is facing unprecedented hardship due to reckless corruption due to Chinese deals? Kids are dying of hunger, people are escaping on makeshift boats, even defense personnels are jumping ship when in foreign shores. Bill Gates won't be throwing any money where he doesn't see a return.

Bill Gates or any foreigner for that matter will not do any investment or any serious project in Sri Lanka. With Rajapakses around in power, the risk is very high for foreign investors or donors. SL desperately needs a visionary leader who can bring the country united. That will help the country to prosper within 5 years. No need to depend on India or China. Otherwise, as RW says, it will take 25 years. For a person who is not patriotic what I say may not make sense.

Presently, Sri Lanka people looking for ways to gets rid of Ranil's administration not to be part of his pretending to be happy Sri Lankans. If Ranil's administration is that influencecial and trusted by the global community he should organise a dorner conference in Colombo to get some financial assistance to get Sri Lanka out of socioeconomic crisis facing now.
