It was revealed in Parliament that the majority of MPs who were provided with weapons during the period between 1980 and 1990 are yet to return the weapons.
The answer which was tabled in the House revealed that more than 100 MPs out of 150 who were provided with weapons from 1989 to 1990 have failed to return them to this date.
This was revealed in an answer provided to an oral question raised by MP Dullas Alahapperuma in the House.
Some of the MPs who have not returned the weapons as per the documents which were tabled in the House are diseased as of today.
State Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennekoon who responded to a supplementary question raised by MP Alahapperuma on any automatic weapons to any MP from 1989 to this date, said such weapons have never been issued to any MP at any date. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

Funny issue. There is no necessity for Weapons for MPs. Specially nower days no MPs. like to walk out from home unless for their private dealings, hence they should return the weapons without any further delay.
