’’Among Economic Killers’’, Cabraal releases his book for a price

Former Central Bank Governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal who has been one of the individuals criticized for Sri Lanka's worst-ever economic crisis, has released a new book titled "Among Economic Killers" which is priced at Rs.2500.

The book is written in Sinhalese.

Cabraal was last week released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court over a private plaint filed alleging that he was responsible for the country's crippling economic crisis. Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala ordered Cabraal to be released on a surety bail of Rs.10 million.

Outside court, reporters asked Cabraal how he could sleep peacefully at night knowing what he had done to the country and its people.

Cabraal responded saying, “I can sleep very well. I have not done anything against the people. I am the one who acted and saved the country from bankruptcy. People can say anything.”

Suspicious as to why the book is only in Sinhala. Economics theory like Mathematics and Science has better source materials in English, than there ever can be in Sinhala (or Tamil). Is Cabraal trying some Sinhala bullshit/tricks by only having in published in Sinhala. I'd believe Cabraal when I can read his materials, in a way I can understand, as I study the economic subject in English. How can one feel complacent after ruining the livelihoods of the public of Sri Lanka. ? Despite the suffering of the people from all walks of life he has the spunk to raise his ego by saying that he saved the country from bankruptcy. Your book should have been titled "Among Economic Killers I stand out as the Best". Repeatedly you were told not to release 500 mn dollars to the creditors but you stubbornly went ahead in releasing this amount which could have been utilized for running of the economy and you were the person responsible for flooding the market with new printed currency which resulted in a runaway inflation and also pegged the rupee value being devalued against the dollar by exhausting the reserve of dollars to defend the rupee with the treasury . By defending the rupee against the dollar you deprived the Exporters from deriving profits from a devalued rupee. We cannot understand why you took these decisions which were detrimental to the country.
