The Air quality in Colombo and Kegalle districts have dropped again today, as per the data put out by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO).
Accordingly the Air Quality Index (AQI), Colombo and Gampaha were over 150 as of today. Residents in these areas could experience health effects while sensitive groups such as children and older people might experience severe health effects.
However the air quality in Jaffna, Puttalam, Badulla and Pollonaruwa Districts which were low during the weekend has improved according to NBRO.
It was confirmed earlier that Sri Lanka air quality has declined as a result of polluted air which is moving from India with the winds. Air quality has been fluctuating with the weather pattern during the the past few days especially with the showers.(Yohan Perera)
