UN Chief Ban Ki-moon has highlighted the importance of Sri Lankan government to work constructively with the international community towards national reconciliation.
The UN Chief highlighted this during a meeting with five ambassadors, who handed an observation report on Sri Lanka to the UN Chief in New York.
The UN Chief also said:
“I have consistently underlined the critical importance of addressing accountability in Sri Lanka through a genuine and comprehensive national process achieving national reconciliation. Last week in New York I have received the Japanese ambassador who led the accountability assessment mission to Sri Lanka where representatives of Bangladesh, Nigeria, Rumania, Sri Lanka and a Colombia University professor participated in an observation project to Sri Lanka last December.
I recognized through our meeting with them the important steps taken by the Government of Sri Lanka since the end of the conflict and strongly underlined the need to address the remaining challenges particularly on issues relating to reconciliation and accountability. I highlighted the importance for the Government of Sri Lanka to work constructively with the international community towards that end.”

The world suffers a lot. Not because of the violence of bad people, but because of the silence of good people!

War criminals were liquidated, no more problems since May 2009. Wake up and thank the military.

This is the reason why the UN and the West are against Sri Lanka. Not working constructively with the international community. I think it is high time for the SL government to work with the international community but still they can maintain the same integrity for not letting to break the country and not giving unwanted more power to TNA. TNA and pro-LTTE elements want Eelam by negotiations and reconciliation after losing the war. This is what the UN and the International community has to realize and Sri Lankans will never ever want to surrender to them to break the country and give Eelam to Tamils because it is unjustifiable and no need at all. Tamils need to learn to live side by side with other Sri Lankans. PERIOD! NO Eelam! If the international community and the TNA accept this, I am sure Sri Lankan government will reconciliate anything.

Bottom line is its the tamils living abroad who want to show the world they are still being persecuted so they can cling to their refugee status and collect millions from donations for the 'cause' but its actually to sustain their luxury life-styles.

"Reconciliation" has become a buss word for the convenience of the rogue community alias UN There is nothing to reconcile in SL as Tamil living in every nook and corner of the country. On the other hand its capital Colombo Tamil is second highest population after Muslim and third place unfortunately gone to Sinhalese. So not we - that Tamil have to reconcile with us forgetting their bigotry to this country. When these idiots getting the facts right or our idiots giving the correct facts?

The UN should try to work with countries on issues and not isolate them by conducting unofficial investigations outside the mandate of the UN and its policies and by appointing biased personnel to overlook other nation's matters. Also, if they were independent and not work under the influence of bigger countries their recommendations would be more readily accepted.
