Woman police officer stabbed to death in Fort



A Woman Police Constable was yesterday hacked to death with a manna knife on an overhead bridge at Lotus Road in Colombo Fort allegedly by her boyfriend who is a police constable

The suspect PC Nilantha Pushpakumara of Walapana attached to the Monaragala Police Station was admitted to Colombo National Hospital after he is alleged to have consumed poison.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate, who visited the hospital, ordered the suspect be remanded till January 11 and be provided with prison security. Police said the suspect’s health condition was improving.

The Fort police informed Court that the tragedy had happened at around 7.15 a.m. on the overhead bridge at Lotus Road while the woman constable was walking on the bridge.

The deceased Nadeeshani Madushani was a resident of Bibile. She had suffered severe cut injuries to the neck, hands and the chest. She was attached to the Police Headquarters Sports Unit.
