Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy with effect from July 7, the Navy Headquarters announced.
 
President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has been pleased to appoint Rear Admiral Wijegunaratne, as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, it said

Rear Admiral Wijegunaratne takes up the post of Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy as it fell vacant when Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera, who held that post, was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.
