As Sri Lankans take time off to cast their vote tomorrow, the Department of Meteorology warned of thunder showers in most parts of the country.
According to the Department's duty forecaster, thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m. However showers are likely at several places in the Western Province and in the districts of Galle and Matara during the morning too.
Thundershowers are expected to be accompanied by strong winds. The people are requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning.
Meanwhile the highest rainfall of 117mm was reported from Kekirawa today while Anuradhapura experienced a rainfall of 45.6, Maha Ilupallama 47.9mm, Vavuniya 52mm and Polonnaruwa 60.5mm. (YP)
