DNA MP Vijitha Herath, who was a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee that probed into the impeachment motion against CJ Shirani Bandaranayake, claimed today that the PSC proceedings were ended in an unexpected hurry following a ‘sudden’ order from the ‘top’.

Addressing a press briefing in Colombo MP Herath said that although the Committee agreed to continue with its proceedings until January next year, the day after the resignation of Opposition members of the committee, a final decision had been released ending the proceedings. He said that no one could accept a decision of this nature as it was not heard accordingly and it was an unfair decision.

The Bell Party secured a lucrative deal last week, purely on one condition - that their PSC member Vee-jee the Hera should step down by Friday. Accordingly, Vee-jee withdrew on Friday and hey presto remittances poured in from Paris and London. Perhaps, the Bell Boys were unaware that the funding was from the Tiger rump!
