The true intention of the three deputies of US President Barack Obama visiting the country was to collect information to use them against Sri Lanka in the global forums, Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa charged.

Addressing a ceremony held at Mawathagama to distribute houses among low income families under the ‘Janasevana’ programme, Minister Weerawansa stressed that the goal of the three US officials’ was to show the world that law and order had collapsed and therefore the allegations of war crimes during the humanitarian operation have to be probed before an international tribunal.

“Mr. Obama has sent his three deputies here as he thinks that the law and order situation in the country had totally broken down in Sri Lanka,” Minister Weerawansa said sarcastically. What is tragic about the present situation is that there are so many people here to sympathize with the US President. Both the UNP and the JVP also say that there is no law and order in Sri Lanka. The Tamil Diaspora, the TNA and the LTTE sympathizers also repeat what the US and the opposition say. All these people said the same thing during the humanitarian operation, Weerawansa said.
