Two policemen on patrol were assaulted at the Urubokka town by two retired security forces men last night.

According to the police, the policemen were assaulted as they were trying to inspect the two men who arrived in a motorbike without helmets suspecting they were under the influence of liquor.

Police said one person was arrested while the other man fled the scene. The injured police officers were admitted to the Heegoda Hospital.
