While rejecting ‘misleading’ assertions regarding the alleged incident involving Ms. Leigh Rhiannon an Australian Senator and Ms. Jan Logie a MP from New Zealand, Sri Lanka today said that the two envoys are most welcome to visit Sri Lanka in their official capacities.
“It must be reiterated that at no point were the two persons detained or questioned as some media have misleadingly reported,” the ministry said in a statement this morning. It also said, “Since Senator Rhiannon and MP Logie are most welcome to visit Sri Lanka in their official capacities and comprehensively analyze developments that are happening in the political and economic spheres it is most unfortunate that they have opted to do so in violation of basic diplomatic courtesies and practice.”

Well the Aussies should know how to behave . If you are on a tourist visa , you are a tourist. If not they must declare their intentions and get the correct visa. In Australia if you are a tourist you can't engage in work. Poor Indian students are arrested and deported when they work for few hours in a restaurant kitchen. They come as students and work to earn some money to pay back loans.
