Customs chief released on bail

Former Customs Preventive Chief Ranjan Kanagasabai had been released on bail by the Colombo High Court today. He was released on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each.

Kanagasabai was a highly decorated Customs official and he alleged that parties with vested interests who were against the raids he carried out ‘fixed him’.

Kanagasabai was earlier arrested on charges of accepting a bribe and was released on bail by the Magistrate Court.

Fact remains he still took bribes, may have not got the correct amount from the guys who fixed him. Good lesson to all bribe takers

pls note the facts.as per paper article there was a commotion created and on the confusion one officer produced a packet which could have been planted by a party, Pls do not judge without knowing facts otherwise it would only discorage fearless officers.

None of you know the facts, he didn't take a bribe a guy walked in threw a packet of money and the cops came in before he even had time to figure out what was going on, he was framed because he was catching all the people trying to smuggle goods in without taking bribes. It is shameful that someone who is actually doing an honest job has to go through all this hassle cuz he would NOT take a bribe.
