Sweet poison

Fourteen women were hospitalised due to food poisoning after eating a cake bought from a shop last morning in Wellawaya, the Wellawaya police said.

Police said victims bought a cake from a shop to celebrate a birthday after attending to sewing training class.

The victims had been admitted to the Wellawaya Base Hospital after suffering symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea and fainting, Police said. (Nayanajeewa Bandara)
