Student shot dead by robber gang

A 19-year-old student Nipun Anuranga was shot dead by an unidentified group in the Udugampola area in Walpola, Gampaha last night, Police said.

They said the gang had arrived in a car and the police suspect the incident had occurred while the gang attempted to rob a shop belonging to the victim’s mother.

Police Spoksman SSP Ajith Rohana said the victim’s mother was also admitted to the Gampaha Hospital with injuries.(DS)
