A special committee is due to be appointed to carry out investigations on the gas leak in the Sapugaskanda oil refinery that resulted in two deaths yesterday, Petroleum Minister Susil Premajayantha informed the parliament today.

The inhalation of poisonous gas that leaked from the Sapugaskanda oil refinery resulted in the death of two persons yesterday while nine others who inhaled the noxious gas were hospitalized.

Like in the contaminated fuel case, the dead might be asked to submit a affidavit that they inhaled the poisonous gas, if they are to get compensation.

We were shocked to hear about this incident. we were some of the pioneers who started this project in 1968 and we were processing the plant without any major incidence.
We wish to convey our condolence for the family of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, also we hope the plant will be back in producing very soon.If possible please shed us more information of what happened
