Minister Dullas Allahapperuma today invited Common Opposition Presidential Candidate Maithripala Sirisena for a discussion on January 9, 2015 instead for a debate.

Addressing a press conference in Colombo today, the Minister said that the Central Committe of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would not allow President Mahinda Rajapaksa to take part in a debate with Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, who had invited the president to a debate.

It should be a one on one debate because this is a presidential election.A sincere diplomat who wants to work for the country having nothing to hide comes forward for debates without fear. Those who don’t are the opposite. If the president is avoiding a debate, the reasons are obvious. Our people being unable to understand this is the country’s downfall …!

MR is scared. This is not the first time he has skipped an open debate. He is only good at screaming on a stage about concrete roads and a bygone war. Maithree Sirisena is the main contender and he will not waste his time talking to 2nd level jerks.
