Marvan should get the job. He moves with the team and knows their individual psyche. This must also be said. The best coach Sri Lanka ever had was Dave Whatmore. Marvan was one of his 'charges'.

Obviously, Marvan is the best choice as he was with the team as a batting coach and have foreign exposure at various levels. Having had the best batting technique during his period as a national player ,he is the best to guide the new crop of youngsters at national level.

Has Mark Davis played Test cricket? What is the experience he has as a coach? What about the other two who were not short listed? There is a rumor that the other two Sri Lankans have also played for Sri Lanka at Test and Limited Over levels. Is it true that at least one of them has lot of experience as a coach both at national and international levels. Is it true? Why was that person and the other overlooked? Have the selectors already done the selection and is it a political manipulation for this post? The selectors should tell the truth.

What all the comments above do not highlight is the fact that under batting coach Marvan Atapattu, free flowing SL batting begun to choke miserably. They now do not have the confidence to win a match with thier batting. Kusal Janith has been made a psychological wreck. So is Angelo Matthews and many other talented batters.....Marvan will become coach. But he will be exposed severely as an untalented coach.
