The Government is expected to check on the progress with regard to the investigations into the killing of a Sri Lankan student in Britain when Prime Minister David Cameron visits Sri Lanka for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), a top official said today.
Meanwhile External Affairs Ministry Secretary Karunathlike Amunugama said the government was concerned about the investigations and had urged British authorities to expedite the investigative process and arrest the suspects.
“We are concerned about the manner in which the investigations are being carried out into the brutal killing and urge the British Authorities to expedite the investigations and provide justice to the victim’s family and loved ones,” he said.
Mr. Amunugama said the Ministry had received a report on the incident compiled by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Britain. (Hafeel Farisz)
