The government is to hold talks with several powerful countries including the United States in order to send local labour as there was a large number of vacancies in those countries, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) said.
SLBFE chairman Amal Senalankadikara said Sri Lankan government officials would meet representatives from the US, Canada, Germany, Australia and Japan in this regard. There are over 150,000 vacancies for nurses in Canada and another 350,000 in the United States, the Bureau said.
Sri Lankan now sends local workers to some twenty countries, mainly to the Middle Eastern countries.

Country becomes famine day by day as the cost of living being increased. So government take this opportunites to send the people for over seas without giving opportuniteis in the country as this will benefit in following three(03) ways. 1- Bring more forign currency exchanges to make profit to sri Lanka to make joy of our beloved ministers, and to increase their facilities and percks 2- Get rid of the main burden from unemployed educated students appeal, strikes and tense situation etc. 3- When many Sri lankan work in overseas, any body can bear the on going cost of living whenever it is increasing in an unbelivable way in the country time to time. All these acts for government selfish things not and really to serve for public

Good initiative but how many qualified nurses do we have??? and with the unemployment rate at 9.% in the U.S.A thats 27 million people unemployed hahahah that's 9 million more than our population. So am guessing this is solely for the nursing sector which will leave us with untrained/unqualified nurses resulting in 6 tries per injection, wrong medicine served to the correct patient.
