Galle, Jan 06 (Daily Mirror) - A 42-year-old Russian national died following an accident on the Southern Expressway last night, police said.
The incident occurred at 110.6 L near the Pinnaduwa interchange on the Southern Expressway, involving a bus travelling from Colombo to Matara.
Police said the bus driver, who allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, collided with the rear of a lorry travelling in the same direction.
The Russian national in the front section of the bus succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the Karapitiya Hospital.
Another foreign couple in the front section of the bus sustained injuries. They are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
The bus driver has been arrested over the accident and Pinnaduwa Police are conducting further investigations.

Very sad .....no sytem no guidlines no proper procedures to maintain driver safty skills drive for tea..etc etc. Long distance drivers must be monitored with all nessorory needs before taking the wheels
