Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Justice to sign extradition agreements with Laos and Sri Lanka, according to a statement published on Russia's official website of legal information on Wednesday.

Treaty with Laos involves the transfer of a wanted person for prosecution or execution of sentence at the request of the second state, and the agreement with Sri Lanka - the transfer of convicts to imprisonment.

Documents will be signed as soon as agreement is reached, and the Russian Ministry of Justice has the right to make nonessential changes in the project approved by the federal government.

According to the website of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, Russia currently has bilateral extradition agreements with nearly 30 countries, including such Asian countries on the list as China, India, Mongolia, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam. (Source: RIA NOVOSTI)

Is this treaty a bi partial or one sided as number of five star hotels in Colombo and suburbs are filled with Russian brothels, so once get caught, Sri Lankan laws could be ignored to get their people to Russia. We are taken for rides!

This gov is stupid to believe they can pit china against US and win the UN issue. China is certainly our last card but it is worthy when it is not played but making US known that we have it in our hands…One should not play the last card at the beginning…And SL will push US to a more anti SL policy by this and lose India’s support.
The best way for SL is being far away from power struggles of big players…

replace china with Russia...same case
