The Saudi Arabian Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Jammaz, said that according to information received by him, Rizana Nafeek presently housed in death row in Saudi Arabia would be pardoned and could return to the island, in consideration of a request made to the Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Azeez by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and also having regard to legal considerations.
These views were expressed by the ambassador to SLMC leader and Minister of Justice Rauff Hakeem, when they met today at the latter’s office, Sri Lanka’s Justice Ministry said in a statement.
The ambassador was replying to a question posed by the minister, about whether the request of the Sri Lankan President and the various documents submitted could be made use of to obtain the release of Rizana Nafeek.
The ambassador had also said that he was aware that the President of Sri Lanka and the government had striven hard to obtain a pardon for Rizana, and stressed that, on the instructions of the Saudi King; the governor of Riyadh Salmon had begun discussions with the relatives of the child who had died at the hands of Rizana. The ambassador had promised to intervene personally in this regard.

She was punished under a sharia law introduced and practiced by barbarians. Under a civilized law, mother would have been punished.

What is the big idea about giving so much prominence over this matter. What good will this bring to the country or people. No doubt Sharia Law is not suitable to any civilized society. Otherwise there wouldn't have been so much outcry even from the Muslim community for the punishment to be withdrawn. The best thing to do is not to send our women to these countries. I wonder how our leaders who speak so much about our culture allow our women to be treated so mean there. One who was in these countries know how these women are molested sexually.

This is indeed good news for the country, but the concern authorities must make sure that no such mistakes are repeated again, especially with the job agents who send under age girls with false birth certificates and other documents. Don't expect that Saudi Arabia will always offer such pardons.

Goes to show that Islamic sharia law has no place in a civilized society.

So as per your 'civilized law' all rapist & murderers should be pardoned so that they can commit the same again. In this case she should be forgiven coz it appears that the mistake was due to negligence
