UN failed in protecting the Sri Lankan civilians for 30 years. If you think that everyone's life is equal, you never stepped into stop the war. You were calm and quiet when rest of the country was suffering from the terror of LTTE and now shedding tears for the people died during the last stage of war. You failed on both occasions and for decades. Only difference is now you are pressurised by dispora.

"Powerless" is just echoing what the government propaganda machinery and the cardboard patriots are repeating ad nauseum to fool the rural masses. One can only feel pity for these brain-washed people who never use their own brains to question the logic.
