Pakistan said that if the Sri Lankan cricket team tours Pakistan, they would be accorded memorable welcome and would be given red box security.
Pakistan’s Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada Saturday termed Sri Lanka as his second home and described them as Pakistan's very close friends and said he was rooting for Sri Lanka alongside Pakistan in the World Cup.
Riaz expressed these views while talking exclusively with Pakistan based The Nation on Saturday.
He said Sri Lankans always stands by Pakistan through thick and thin and they are very grateful to them.
“Despite attack on their cricket team in the unfortunate Lahore incident, they never turn their backs on Pakistan.
We salute their gesture and will never forget their brotherly treatment rendered to Pakistan in all the sporting fields.
Whenever Pakistan wanted Sri Lankan teams weather cricket table tennis, football or any other sports they always responded in positive manner.”
“Now by the grace of God and with superb efforts by our Army after operation Zarb-e-Azb, things are quite different and security situation is far better.
We would left no stone unturned and initiate best possible measures to ensure no repeat of that bizarre Lahore incident.
” Riaz said Zimbabwe are willing to tour Pakistan, which is not only great positive sign but also shows that international teams trust current government.
“I am sure international cricket return to Pakistan would help people to get over that dark days period when nobody was ready to tour Pakistan.

If Pakistan is not a safe place for whatever reason, India is also not a good country - too many cheaters, thieves and beggars, hence you are not safe there either!!!

I think Both team officials should sit together and decide. Visiting team should be taken into confidence if team players have no issue then the management should not have any issue. They should visit Pakistan to help reviving international cricket in this cricket loving country but with appropriate security arrangements.

In 1996 World Cup Pakistan people in the streets fully supported us in the series when we played India and the Aussies in Lahore. Next to their own country, they support us second.

Magnanimity is commendable but not at the expense of lives especially the national cricketers. Lets get their views and not the Government or the management.

I think we (Sri Lanka - Cricket Team) should tour Pakistan, the people there should be given a 2nd chance ... but I would suggest the Sri Lankan Army Special Forces or the commandos should handle the 1st inner ring security of tge team .. we cant lose our boys for any reason .. they hv their families ...

Great gesture. All the more because we are the ones who were assaulted. I agree that a group of the best STF commandos must accompany them !

Pakistan is a very dangerous place to be as we all know. IF SL decides to send a team to Pakistan because of political reasons, players should be allowed to make a decision if they are will to go there. Players who say no should not be punished.
