Rainy weather to continue

The Meteorology Department today warned of heavy rains exceeding 150 mm in some places while temporary localized strong winds could also be expected during thundershowers.

The Department said in a severe weather advisory valid for the next 24 hours that showery weather was expected to continue in the next few days as the atmospheric disturbances which formed due the inter monsoon condition still persisted in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.


It said intermittent showers or thunder showers over deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Galle could be expected with strong winds strengthening up to 80kmp/h during thunder showers.
