lol, traders will not sell at a loss.
If there are more profitable products to trade on, traders will simply move money there - and not buy new stock.
Doesn't the very Honerable minister know this?
Of course, he couldn't give two cents about the people - else, will he waste taxpayers money with his adventures?

After heaping one burden after another on the poor consumers, when it comes to milk food prices, the Minister is playing the sympathy card. Does he expect importers and traders to sell products at a loss when the government corporations such as CPC, CEB etc. make unconscionable profits.

What a dumb idea. Now supply will reduce and the quality will drop. Only South Asian ministers think that the answer to every problem is regulation that stifles market forces. Moves like this may win short term kudos but will eventually make this administration unpopular.

How difficult is it to set a maximum margin of profit on a product? Infant milk powders vary according to the fat content and nutritional additives they contain. To place a simple retail price cap on something which is so variable is naive and simplistic.

Fixing price caps on any group of products is a recipe for a market devoid of quality and choice. Maybe that's what the Minister is aiming for, as long as he is not affected...
