President urges Bodu Bala Sena not to stir hatred

The President at a meeting held with Bodu Bala Sena, urged the representatives of the organization to refrain from stirring hatred.

“We have come through the vicissitudes of a thirty year old conflict. Now we must move to live together as one nation” the President had reportedly told the representatives who included monks.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Dinesh Gunawardena, Udaya Gammanpila of the Jathika Hela Urumuya and President’s Secretary, Lalith Weerathunge were among those who participated at the discussion.

Asoka should know that Sri Lankan Muslim did not ask for a separate state in this country. Muslims always supported the governments during the civil unrest in this country. For the last 30 years our country has suffered a lot and gone back ward. Don't try to drag the peaceful country to another civil war and make the people to suffer again, enough is enough.

Yes, Sri Lanka is one nation...one country and we MUST live in this beautiful country peacefully with respect to each other’s religions. Muslims should understand, unlike Muslim countries where other religions are banned and not allowed to practice can freely practice Islam. Sri Lanka being a Buddhist country has allowed any one to practice their beliefs. If some one trying to take any advantage of that, then the consequences will be deadly and will drag the entire nation to another bloody conflict. The President, all other politicians and all citizens MUST understand this.
